全國同胞們，同志們，朋友們：
Fellow countrymen, comrades and friends,

    今天，我們隆重集會，慶祝中華人民共和國成立６０周年。在這個喜慶而又莊嚴(yán)的時刻，全國各族人民都為偉大祖國的發(fā)展進(jìn)步感到無比自豪，都對實(shí)現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復(fù)興的光明前景充滿信心。
    Today, we hold a grand celebration to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. At this cheerful and solemn moment, people from all over the country’s ethnic groups are extremely proud of our great nation’s development and progress and are confident of the Chinese nation’s bright prospect on the road to revival.

    在這里，我代表黨中央、全國人大、國務(wù)院、全國政協(xié)和中央軍委，向一切為民族獨(dú)立和人民解放、國家富強(qiáng)和人民幸福建立了不朽功勛的革命先輩和烈士們，表示深切的懷念！向全國各族人民和海內(nèi)外愛國同胞，致以熱烈的祝賀！向關(guān)心和支持中國發(fā)展的各國朋友，表示衷心的感謝！
   On behalf of the CPC Central Committee, the National People’s Congress, the State Council, the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the Central Military Commission, I hereby pay tribute to all the revolutionary pioneers of older generations and martyrs who made great contributions to realizing national independence and liberation of the people, the country’s prosperity and strength and happy life of the people. I send warm congratulations to people from all ethnic groups in the country and patriotic compatriots from home and abroad, and express heartfelt thanks to the friends from other countries who care about and support China’s development.

    ６０年前的今天，中國人民經(jīng)過近代以來１００多年的浴血奮戰(zhàn)終于奪取了中國革命的偉大勝利，毛澤東主席在這里向世界莊嚴(yán)宣告了中華人民共和國的成立。中國人民從此站起來了，具有５０００多年文明歷史的中華民族從此進(jìn)入了發(fā)展進(jìn)步的歷史新紀(jì)元。
   Sixty years ago on this day, the Chinese people achieved great victory of the Chinese revolution after more than one hundred years of blooded struggle. It was here that Chairman Mao Zedong solemnly declared to the world the founding of the People's Republic of China. At that moment, the Chinese people stood up and the Chinese nation with over 5,000 years of civilization began a new page of development and progress in history.

    ６０年來，在以毛澤東同志、鄧小平同志、江澤民同志為核心的黨的三代中央領(lǐng)導(dǎo)集體和黨的十六大以來的黨中央領(lǐng)導(dǎo)下，勤勞智慧的我國各族人民同心同德、艱苦奮斗，戰(zhàn)勝各種艱難曲折和風(fēng)險考驗，取得了舉世矚目的偉大成就，譜寫了自強(qiáng)不息的壯麗凱歌。今天，一個面向現(xiàn)代化、面向世界、面向未來的社會主義中國巍然屹立在世界東方。
   In the past sixty years, with the three generations of Party leadership with Comrade Mao Zedong, Comrade Deng Xiaoping and Comrade Jiang Zemin as a core, and with the leadership of the Central Committee formed after the 16th National Congress of the CPC, with hard work and wisdom of all ethnic groups of the country, the Chinese people have joined hands to overcome the great hardship and made great contributions that have been recognized by the world, and proved our possibilities and endurers. Today, a socialist China is standing firmly in the east as marching towards modernization, in glimpsing the world and future.

    新中國６０年的發(fā)展進(jìn)步充分證明，只有社會主義才能救中國，只有改革開放才能發(fā)展中國、發(fā)展社會主義、發(fā)展馬克思主義。中國人民有信心、有能力建設(shè)好自己的國家，也有信心、有能力為世界作出自己應(yīng)有的貢獻(xiàn)。
   The sixty year’s of development of New China has proved that only socialism can save China, only reform and opening up can develop China, develop socialism and develop Marxism. The Chinese people are confident and are capable of building our own country and make due contributions to the world.

    我們將堅定不移堅持中國特色社會主義道路，全面貫徹執(zhí)行黨的基本理論、基本路線、基本綱領(lǐng)、基本經(jīng)驗，繼續(xù)解放思想，堅持改革開放，推動科學(xué)發(fā)展，促進(jìn)社會和諧，推進(jìn)全面建設(shè)小康社會進(jìn)程，不斷開創(chuàng)中國特色社會主義事業(yè)新局面、譜寫人民美好生活新篇章。
    We will unswervingly follow our path on socialism with Chinese characteristics and comprehensively implement the ruling party’s basic theory, basic plan, basic program and basic experience. We will maintain our policies of emancipating our thoughts in reform and opening-up, pushing forward scientific development and promote social harmony. We will push forward the process of comprehensively building a moderately well-off society, turning new pages in building a socialism with Chinese characteristics, and opening new chapters in making the people's life better.

   我們將堅定不移堅持“和平統(tǒng)一、一國兩制”的方針，保持香港、澳門長期繁榮穩(wěn)定，推動海峽兩岸關(guān)系和平發(fā)展，繼續(xù)為實(shí)現(xiàn)祖國完全統(tǒng)一這一中華民族的共同心愿而奮斗。
   We will stick to the policy of “peaceful reunification” and “one country, two systems” to help Hong Kong and Macao remain prosperous and stable, to seek peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and to work for the complete reunification of the motherland, which is the common aspiration of the Chinese nation.

   我們將堅定不移堅持獨(dú)立自主的和平外交政策，堅持和平發(fā)展道路，奉行互利共贏的開放戰(zhàn)略，在和平共處五項原則基礎(chǔ)上同所有國家發(fā)展友好合作，繼續(xù)同世界各國人民一道推進(jìn)人類和平與發(fā)展的崇高事業(yè)，推動建設(shè)持久和平、共同繁榮的和諧世界。
   We will unswervingly maintain an independent foreign policy of peace. We will follow a path of peaceful development. We will seek a strategy of win-win cooperation based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. We will develop friendly relations and cooperation with all nations. We join hands with the people from all over the world in pushing forward the lofty cause of making the world more peaceful and progressive and building a harmonious world of long-lasting peace and prosperity.

    中國人民解放軍和人民武裝警察部隊要發(fā)揚(yáng)光榮傳統(tǒng)，加強(qiáng)自身建設(shè)，切實(shí)履行使命，為維護(hù)國家主權(quán)、安全、領(lǐng)土完整，為維護(hù)世界和平再立新功。
    The Chinese People’s Liberation Army and People’s Armed Police Force should uphold their glorious traditions, build up their own strength and fulfill their missions practically so as to make new contributions to safeguarding national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, as well as world peace.

    歷史啟示我們，前進(jìn)道路從來不是一帆風(fēng)順的，但掌握了自己命運(yùn)、團(tuán)結(jié)起來的人民必將戰(zhàn)勝一切艱難險阻，不斷創(chuàng)造歷史偉業(yè)。
    History has shown us that the road ahead may not always be as smooth as we expect. But the Chinese people who are united and are masters of the destiny will overcome all difficulties and obstacles and will continue to create great historic undertakings.

    展望未來，中國的發(fā)展前景無限美好。全黨全軍全國各族人民要更加緊密地團(tuán)結(jié)起來，高舉中國特色社會主義偉大旗幟，與時俱進(jìn)，銳意進(jìn)取，繼續(xù)朝著建設(shè)富強(qiáng)民主文明和諧的社會主義現(xiàn)代化國家、實(shí)現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復(fù)興的宏偉目標(biāo)奮勇前進(jìn)，繼續(xù)以自己的辛勤勞動和不懈奮斗為人類作出新的更大的貢獻(xiàn)！
    Look forward to the future, we envision bright prospect for China’s development. The whole Party, the army and people of all ethnic groups will unite more closely, holding up the great banner of building a socialism with Chinese characteristics, and advance with the times and with enterprising spirit. Let’s continue to build up socialist modern nation with prosperity, democracy and harmony, move forward to realize the great goal of rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making new great contributions to the well being of humanity with our diligent work and unremitting efforts.
